Just for fun… this evening I noticed that someone in one of my Google + circles was experimenting with virtual office hours via Google+ Hangouts… So I decided to jump right in. Even though I was in my car, on my iPhone, only using 3G cellular connectivity. NO distracted driving occurred during this experiment – I pulled over 🙂
So I’m thinking of taking this further…
- How well would that same activity work on an Android smart phone?
- How seamless would that activity be on a Chromebook or Netbook?
- How about an Nook or Kindle Fire?
- Are hassle free activities like this reasons to NOT ignore the BYOD conversation? (bring your own device)
Picture 1 is a screenshot from the computer… Picture 2 was a capture from my iPhone.
As far as I can tell, not psbl to hangout w g3 iPhone , even w g4 OS..,
Frank, I was surprised too… that’s why I grabbed the screenshots (you can see the 3G AT&T connect). I was literally pulled over on the side of an interstate. Having said that, I haven’t found the need to try it again. Maybe something has changed on the AT&T (or other carrier network).
