OK… So there is a ton to imply here. A couple of thoughts that come to mind: This adds to my argument that most HS students have cell phones with full access. When is federal and state law (CIPA & KAR) going to recognize that filtering and logging is not really an option to be realized? Also, when are we going to realize that this is communication of future adults and leaders and stop complaining about a “loss of face to face” communication skills.
I’ve heard a ton of complaints about “kids and their “texting language – every word is spelled wrong.” So when are we going to recognize “Texting Shorthand” as a valuable communication efficiency? Shorthand for texting is actually showing economical and data responsibility from our students, right? (the fewer texted characters = less time to text and less data to send over the air) We used to even teach shorthand skills 70 to 80 years ago in schools. We used to think it was cool and valuable, why not now? Onward and Upward.
