Skype Multi Point Video – Finally (v5.0)

Skype 5.0
Screen Capture of Skype 5.0 (Windows)

Finally Skype has pulled in multipoint video.  This morning I was able to have a 3-way video chat with family.  This is huge!  Recently, I’ve been using an array of products such as Adobe Connect, etc. (which Adobe is not charging big money for).  Make sure to update to version 5.0 of the Skype application.

Also with this update, Skype is now on the save version and similar feature sets for all platforms.  In the past, for example, Windows and Mac current versions of the app were very disconnected.

Multi-person video… for now, you have to click to accept an extra step.  There is hints that the multi-person video (more the 2) will be in the “Skype for Business” model.  It looks like there is a 29 day trial.  At any rate, I am in the trial window now and I love it!  It is really nice.  Finally someone gets close to the features and quality of iChat, and it’s platform agnostic to boot!
